Help needed for your forming processes?

Thanks to our expertise in finite element simulation, our in-depth knowledge of steel grades and of the deep-drawing process, OCAS selects the best solution – thickness and steel grade selection – for your future parts.

Finite element simulations are widely used as it enables customers to reduce their trial-and-error time and cost. Indeed, being able to check the formability of a part already during the design stage, facilitates efficient steel grade selection and thickness optimisation.

When designing a new product, the customer has to ensure that the design of the part is compatible with the selected steel grade. Via intense collaboration OCAS can provide expert support to help the customer to take the best decisions. Very often small design changes are still allowed, and the forming process can thus be redefined and fine-tuned in accordance with the forming properties of the selected steel grades.

The deep-drawing diagnostic can be complemented by a complete definition of the deep drawing process, including the design of punch, blank holder and die, and the determination of the forming sequence leading, including possible compensation operations to control spring-back and warping.

Furthermore, OCAS can optimise your component and manufacturing route for assembly through welding, joining or adhesive bonding. The outcome of simulations can be experimentally tested at our facilities and compared with real-life tests for validation purposes.

“It is clear that these co-engineering projects require in-depth knowledge of our steel grades and deep drawing processes in order to provide the best solution in common agreement with our customer”
