You never walk alone

Although additive manufacturing undoubtedly already has and will continue to require breakthrough technology developments, it also requires a substantial change in the ecosystem approach. Collaboration isn’t an option, it has become a must as product, process and material innovations are intimately entangled in additive technologies.

In order to ensure that the additive manufacturing related services which we are developing respond to real markets needs as well as to maximise their potential impact in the ecosystem, we have chosen to embed them in collaborative projects whenever possible. Further technical developments related to either improving our welding wire production capabilities, or our process simulation tools as well as expanding our experimental facilities by allowing to feed both wire and powder simultaneously are being tackled within Flemish or European funded programs.

Finally OCAS is also actively participating in various joint industry projects (JIP’s) with leading partners in offshore and oil & gas industries to develop guidelines for certification of additively manufactured safety critical components in these industrial segments. Although additive manufacturing undoubtedly already has and will continue to require breakthrough technology developments, it also requires a substantial change in the ecosystem approach. Collaboration isn’t an option, it has become a must as product, process and material innovations are intimately entangled in additive technologies.

We are therefore always eager to discuss further collaboration opportunities in this area with you.
