The inductively coupled plasma (ICP) technique alows quantitative analysis of very low concentrations of trace elements in liquid or solid samples. OCAS is equipped with both an ICP-mass spectrometer and an ICP-optical emission spectrometer. MS is dedicated for trace levels, whereas OES is ideal for bulk analysis.
OCAS has expertise in using ICP-MS & ICP-OES for bulk ultra-trace analysis in Fe-based metals. Using laser ablation ( resolution down to 10 µm) also segregations can be studied by the ICP-MS technique.
Solid samples can also be analysed after disolving by microwave desolvation.
