Wear

Wear is generally defined as damage to a solid surface caused by the removal or displacement of material due to the mechanical action of a contacting solid, liquid or gas. This damage results in gradual deterioration. The most occurring wear is abrasion, which occurs when a hard rough surface removes  material from a softer surface.

OCAS’s expertise in the development of wear resistant alloys has reinforced the interest in methodologies to assess wear resistance.  Today, OCAS has different test facilities available for sliding and impact wear at different stress levels.

OCAS is furthermore active in the field of improving wear design and customised tests. This field is closely related to tribology and roughness
