Traineeship

To attract a broad spectrum of future employees, OCAS offers interesting topics for fundamental research and technical applications. It is possible to do a traineeship at OCAS in a wide range of metallurgical and surface related topics, as well as fields like forming, joining, FEM modelling and electromagnetic applications.

Click here for the personal story of Marga, a former trainee who now works at OCAS.
A selection of possible topics:
  • Ultra fast and flexible annealing metallurgy
  • High throughput screening of coated substrates
  • Developing new steel grades for easy enamelling
  • Transformation kinetics for high strength steel for industry
  • Mechanical evaluation of hydrogen embrittlement
  • Characterisation of ultra thin films
  • Precipitation phenomena in low-loss electrical steel
  • Thermomechanical processing and microstructural analysis of creep resistant steel
  • Delamination study by Scanning Kelvin Probe
  • Computational fraction mechanics in modern pipeline design
  • Mechanical properties of composite structures
  • Characterisation of advanced functional surfaces
  • FEM calculation of the losses in electromagnetic motors
